Internship Hours
So far so good! My internship
activities have been great. Right from the start my supervisor delegated some
of his everyday tasks to me. I assign all work orders that come to the Desktop
Support area to our technicians. It is a task!
I try to be fair and assign them equally using. I have gone to several
conferences/seminars; the digital ticket exploring new communications and
technologies in the classroom, 7 Habits for Highly Effective People and a
Project Management Course. I am currently on a project dealing with my ARP –
Dell KACE. We are in the process of finding a way to push out patches to all
machines, Windows and Macs across campus. We are in our planning phase and will
soon setup tests banks for observation before going campus wide. I can truly
see that there is a lot in fulfilling a leadership role on any level. There are
so many responsibilities. All that I am learning now, I hope to build on and grow
and be able to use on a higher level in Higher Education. I currently have
close to 100 hours in working on my internship plan.
ARP
I
have completed training for the Dell KACE system. I have been using KACE and
analyzing its uses as opposed to actual physical man hours. It is interesting
to see how one machine can do so much, whereas before, these are things we
would manually do. I have not learned all of the ins and outs as of yet on KACE,
but I have a good enough start to start charting my data and getting all input
from other techs, etc. in one place. There are some additional things like
patching computers that I would like to learn more about in helping me complete
my ARP. I know I will make some changes as to how I will present my findings;
excel, PowerPoint, Word, I think I will probably use all 3 avenues to help
present my findings.
