Week Two - The Light

Decisions, decisions! That's all I could think about this week. Which of the following action research ideas should I try and investigate?
• To monitor the students use of newly incorporated technology in the library (kiosk for resetting usernames and passwords)
• How Dell KACE Management will increase productivity, reduce man hours and save the school money
• To analyze the differences between HP desktops and laptops and Dell HP desktops and laptops (which is preferred depending on functionality)
From this week’s lesson, I’ve learned that deciding on an action research takes some thought. You have to be able to come up with something that will allow you to produce good qualitative or quantitative data, or both. My supervisor and I both felt that the second option would give more opportunity for research and progress. Action research challenges traditional social science by moving beyond reflective knowledge created by variables to hypothesizing, data collecting, and investigating; until we have the data needed to back up our research.
